Buying in Abu Dhabi
Can a foreign buyer own freehold in Abu Dhabi?
Yes, inside designated investment zones — which is where most of the new residential product sits, including Yas Island, Saadiyat Island, Al Reem Island and Al Raha Beach. Outside those zones the ownership structure differs, so the title type is worth confirming on the specific building rather than assuming it from the emirate.
How does Abu Dhabi compare with Dubai?
Abu Dhabi is the smaller and slower-moving of the two markets, with supply concentrated in a handful of master-planned island destinations rather than spread across dozens of communities. That tends to mean less choice but also less volatility. Which suits you depends on whether you are buying to hold or to trade.
What are the transaction costs?
Budget for the transfer fee, registration and agency commission on top of the price, plus service charges once you own. The exact percentages change, so ask an advisor for the current figures before you build them into a return calculation — we would rather give you today’s number than leave last year’s on a web page.
Why is Abu Dhabi first in your build?
It is the largest single block in our inventory at 149 project rows, and the market we know best. Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah follow, with a selected set of Dubai developers last.
